My name is Emily, and I started out my fixing journey as a seamstress for an events company. I realised that I was much more interested in maintaining and repairing the machines and the company kindly sent me to the wonderful Artizan Training. I was certified as an Industrial Lockstitch Mechanic in 2023, a year after my daughter was born.
As my little one grew up and I became a single mother, I knew I needed a flexible job to fit around childcare. Domestic Machines are just small versions of Industrial Machines, so early in 2025 I decided to start working from home fixing machines for all the seamsters in Nottingham.
Business is booming and I enjoy many aspects of the job; meeting new people, helping sewing maestros get their machines up and running, training up newbies who might not know all of the ins and outs of their machines just yet, and meeting new machines (especially the old ones!).
